The 2018 Climbing Instructor Training course was held April 13-15 and April 28-29. We had a total of 10 students. The weather for the first weekend was a little challenging, but we got creative with the agenda to take advantage of clearings in the rain for some hands-on learning.
The practical weekend at HorseThief was fabulous. We set up a number of new routes, and all of the students had the opportunity to set up multiple routes and experience multiple rescue scenarios. As usual, we did the 80′ rappel overlooking the Columbia as the topper for the day. It is always a favorite, as the view over the Columbia makes it look like you are doing a 300′ rappel, even though the foot of the cliff is only 80′ down.
